The Nutcracker

November 16 - 18 2018

For more than 25 years, the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet has been bringing the holiday classic ballet “The Nutcracker” to our stage.  A fun way for families to kick off the holiday season, the annual tradition features professional soloists and many of the region’s best dancers.  The enchanting music by Tchaikovsky is one of his best-known works and the ballet, set at Christmas time, has become an American holiday tradition.

Audience members are invited to have pictures taken with the cast after the Saturday Performances.

Ninety-minute performances are appropriate for children four years old and up. Before and after the show the lobby is a winter wonderland filled with nutcracker gifts ideal for holiday shopping.

Because your child will remember your holiday traditions.

Annual Festival of Lights in Rose Tree Park

A cherished local tradition, the Festival of Lights makes Rose Tree Park sparkle with holiday cheer. Delaware County welcomes everyone to enjoy a wintry stroll in the park while thousands of lights twinkle in the trees and dozens of hand-painted displays decorate the landscape.

Rose Tree Park sparkles during the holiday season with the annual Festival of Lights. Dozens of decorated lit trees and festive displays draw visitors back each year to stroll the glimmering walkways and grounds, linger in the festive atmosphere, and pay a visit to childhood figures such as Charlie Brown & the Peanuts Gang and Santa & his Reindeer. The Festival of Lights opens in early December with a tree lighting ceremony featuring choral performers and the arrival of Santa Claus. The trees are lit nightly from 5:30 - 9:30 for public enjoyment.

Please call the Parks and Recreation Department at 610-891-4455 for more information.

5th Annual Santa Parade in Media

Santa’s Arrival and Festival of Lights

This is the 5th year we've had Santa's Parade on State Street in Media. It was created by businesses in the borough to bring a fun, exciting event that would draw people to the area with the idea that once here they would linger to shop, eat, drink and enjoy all that Media has to offer -- all year round.

The parade starts at 5PM on Sunday November 25th and has something for everyone. Mummers. Floats. Music. Classic cars. Fife & Drum corps. Elvis. Living Nativity. Victorian Christmas. Santa & Mrs. Claus….plus Live Reindeer! Prior to the parade there will be a 1-mile fun run/walk where participants are encouraged to dress in their holiday finest.  Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. The run/walk begins at 4PM in front of the county courthouse.

Accompanying all the fun is a block party on state street, 2:30-5 PM between Orange and Veterans Square featuring exhibitors, giveaways, contests, music and other treats.
